Lenovo has realized the potential of AR and VR technology as the company is investing a lot in these technologies. Lenovo is expected to be working on at least three headsets which are scheduled to launch by the end of this year. It is also rumored that Lenovo is working on two VR platforms. The one will see Lenovo entering the Windows 10 Mixed Reality headset market. It will join companies such as HP, Asus, and Acer in that market.

The other VR platform is the standalone VR device based on Google Daydream technology. This device is designed to be a meeting point between expensive high-end PC VR and mobile VR. Lenovo also recently revealed that one of these devices will carry the name ‘Lenovo Mirage’.

Lenovo is not only focusing on developing VR technology but also AR technologies. Lenovo is working on developing augmented reality devices. The one of which has previously been featured as part of Disney’s D23 event. The headset was used along with a Bluetooth lightsaber peripheral to create an AR Star Wars experience which will overlay images on the real world. Lenovo also confirmed that users will be able to play Holochess, the iconic game played by Chewbacca. The AR device will be powered by smartphone though Lenovo has previously displayed a prototype of a standalone AR device (known as DaystAR). Some reports also indicate that this device is associated with the Star Wars AR.

Lenovo will release more details about its upcoming projects and devices at IFA 2017, which is scheduled to be held on 31st August 2017 in Berlin, Germany.
