Facebook is secretly working on AI assistant for Oculus Rift
Apple started Siri, an AI assistant way back in 2011. Since then AI assistant has gained popularity. All the companies like Microsoft and Google have developed their own AI assistant to give an entirely new experience to users. Now, Windows 10 and Xbox also comes with an AI assistant support. Google Home and Amazon Alexa are other two examples of AI assistants. Now, it’s been suggested that Facebook is developing its own AI assistant which will be compatible with Oculus Rift.
According to the rumor, at the initial stage, Facebook is only adding some basic facilities to the assistant. For example, you can tell, “Hello Oculus, do this” or “Hello Oculus, rely on Araya’s message” or “Wish John happy birthday”. The users can also get the information about the general things like the weather, sports teams, traffic etc.
It’s been a long running rumor that Facebook is working on the AI support as it is the only big company in the tech world that has yet to shift to dedicated AI service. The latest rumors suggest that it’s not too long when the users can operate Facebook with their voice commands.
Facebook is also going to organize Oculus Connect 4 which is the company’s annual virtual reality (VR) summit in October 2017. Facebook might announce this big news in the event but for that, we will have to wait a bit longer.
