Working on any good technology can become prominent only if it is operated by preferably people who can comfortably steer it along. Same is the case with Natural Language Processing, which from the day of its origin has been re-casted into many varied moulds by some of the great influencers. Here we present before you some of the inordinate personalities who transpired the present juncture of NLP:

  • David Ferruci, the CEO, Founder and Chief Scientist at Elemental Cognition has been once the principal investigator of Watson. His current venture primarily focuses on analyzing the world from the perspective of humans.

  • Daniel Bobrow is the well known for the creation of his artificial intelligence program STUDENT. Once the President of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), Bobrow is currently a Research fellow in the Intelligent Systems Laboratory.

  • Noam Chomsky, commonly known as “The Father of Modern Linguistics”, has dedicated his entire lifetime for providing research work in this field. His work, Syntactic Structures has been a boon for global linguists.

  • Stephen Wolfram, the Founder and CEO of Wolfram Research has gained pre-eminence for his natural language processing computation engine Wolfram Alpha.

  • Daniel Jurafsky is currently a Professor at Stanford University, who has authored and co-authored many books such as Speech Recognition and Computational Linguistics.

Thus with such approaches working excessively towards exploiting the human temperament and expressions, we can surely expect more such personalities who can amend more to the field of NLP.
