Google new Daydream

In much-anticipated launch event organized by Google on 4th October, they unveiled some of the next generation products. Google unveiled next version of their flagship smartphone Pixel. They also released new Chromecast and Chromecast audio. But one thing that5 everyone was looking for was the next version of Daydream headsets.

Google did announce Daydream view last year which was powered by Android and could be used with a vast variety of Daydream-compatible phones and it was covered in fabric. The newer version will have more color option (Charcoal, Fog, and Coral). The new headset will cost $99 which is $20 more than the previous one.

The rise in price is due to some additional features like the higher field of vision and a much smaller slot for a controller which is a big improvement on the looks. It also has a removable head strap for better comfort. The headset measures 6.64.63.9 inches and weighs about 9.2 ounces. The new daydream headset will be compatible with Pixel 2, the older Pixel, Moto Z, Moto Z2, the Galaxy S8, the S8+.

One of the big improvement from the last headset is the availability of content. Google promised a lot more content that would be available on Daydream. Google is trying to establish itself in the VR industry after targeting the AR with its development kit ARCore. Google also bought the pixel division from HTC which indicates that they are serious about the VR and AR technology in the smartphones. Let’s see whether this headset will be able to beat other like HTC VIVE, Oculus Rift and Mixed reality headsets from Acer and Samsung.
