Facebook comes up with Spaces for HTC VIVE
Facebook has decided to expand the reach of its VR app Spaces by announcing the support for HTC VIVE. Previously, the app came to VIVE unofficially through review hack but now Facebook has announced official support for the app.
Users can download the Spaces from the Facebook website directly, bypassing Valve’s Steam Store as the part of its distribution. Support for HTC VIVE also means that Rift and VIVE users can connect in Spaces. They could create their own avatars, share videos, play games, stream live and make Messenger video calls to the real world. One of the most interesting features of Spaces is that it lets users get a call from virtual reality directly on their mobile phone anywhere in the world.
Rachel Rubin Franklin (head of Facebook’s social VR) said,” We are looking to expand the reach of Spaces and soon we will add support for other platforms also.”
