Augmented reality and virtual reality are evolving all the time. There are many improvements made in the area of depth of field and focusing. But, the VR imaging technology has yet not matched the capabilities of the human eye.

Deep Optics have developed a new tuneable lens technology. This will enable the AR and VR lens to be turned into the auto-focusing system by enabling the real focal plane.

The technology will reduce the several negative effects experienced by some user. These effects include a nausea headache, dizziness.

According to the Deep Optics researchers, these effects occurs because of lack of proper representation of distance in the ER system. The optical system in VR technology is not able to represent the variation in the distance.

The co-founder and CEO of Deep Optics, Yariv Haddad said,” We are excited about this new technology. The new lens will dynamically change their focal power position. This will allow the users to have the large field of view.”

He also said that the company is aiming to launch the product based on this technology in 2018.

The company will be demonstrating the tunable lens technology at Augmented World Expo 2017.

This development will certainly be a big step in the direction of improving the VR technology.
